Discipleship Pathway:

Knowing Christ to make Him known.

Discipleship Vision:

We desire for VBC to have a clearly communicated, sustainable, and effective Discipleship Pathway for everyone from unbelievers to experienced ministers to grow further in holistic spiritual maturity. That growth should be present in mind, heart, and hands. We put our knowledge into practice through community, learning environments, and spiritual practices. We believe in continual sanctification through Christ so that we may attain fullness of faith (Heb. 10:22).

Core Classes

We offer classes on a rotating schedule that cover a range of topics. Each person in our church body can benefit from taking each of these classes.

Class attendees will be expected to attend each weekly class session for the scheduled course offering and will also be expected to complete assignments outside of class.

More information on what classes we offer can be found below.

Seasonal Rhythms

We seek to enhance our classroom learning by focusing on specific spiritual disciplines during the year. Each season, we all focus on one specific aspect of Christian life within our small groups. The following topics align with each season:

Fall: Community

Winter: Worship

Spring: Mission

Community Workshops

VBC plans to offer community workshops at different times of the year. These are intended to cover topics that are tailored to more specific groups of the congregation.

 FAQs

  • Absolutely not!  We want to make these classes as accessible as possible and so most offerings can be taken at any time that they are offered.

  • Most classes last 6 - 8 weeks and attendance is key to getting the information. However life happens and we will have options available for those participants who sign up for a course and have to miss a class.

  • The classes are designed to be beneficial to believers in all stages of life.  The goal of discipleship is not to attain a certain level of knowledge, but to be transformed from glory to glory.

  • That’s okay! Attendance is crucial to gleaning the full benefits from the class, but conflicts are unavoidable.  We plan to offer each class multiple times, so if you miss it this time then you can catch it the next time it is offered. Also, classes do not have to be taken in any order, so you can jump in when you have availability.

  • Great question! The goal of DP is to supplement what is already happening on Sunday mornings. Ideally, each participant should attend both a class and a Sunday morning service. To help with this, many of the classes are scheduled during the 9:00 am service, when we have our VBC Kids program. We will also have childcare available up to age four during the 11:00 am service to help participants be able to attend both class and service (we hope to expand this to include more children in the future!). Children over age four are welcome to attend with their parents at the 11:00 am service.
