Racial unity is a gospel issue and all the more urgent 50 years after Martin Luther King Jr.’s death. Join the Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission and The Gospel Coalition for a special event: MLK50 at Valley Bible Church. We will be streaming a recording of the conference that took place April 3-4th in Memphis, TN, and we will be discussing and learning about how to pursue racial reconciliation together as American evangelical Christians.
The 50th anniversary of King’s tragic death marks an opportunity for Christians to reflect on the state of racial unity in the church and the culture. It creates the occasion to reflect on where Christians have been and look ahead to where we must go as we pursue racial unity in the midst of tremendous tension.
This is a FREE event, but donations of $1.00 or more are encouraged! Breakfast, refreshements, and lunch will be provided as well!
Please come join us for a Christ-centered time of worship and discussion!
Pray for our team from VBC and Sojourn Church in Floyd as they head to Nicaragua to serve the Lord and the local community.
From the team: "We will be going down the Coco River for 5 days to work on the sidewalk project that we began last year. We will be extending the walkway to a man's house that was one of the original teachers in the school project in 1984. He now has Parkinson's disease and we are going to bring him a wheelchair and modify the steps to his home so he can get outside to visit the school and the church. He has been basically stuck in his home and hammock for a couple of years. The walkway will bless the rest of the village as well in that they will not have to walk in the mud during rainy season.
While down river we will also be leading a one day teaching seminar for local teachers and church leaders followed by an evening of worship music. We will travel down river and back via dugout canoe and staying in 'rustic' conditions so prayer for health and safety are a priority."
The River and New Life churches are hosting a mini-conference focused on community and healthy relationships in downtown Blacksburg on March 16th-17th. Kent and Karla Denlinger are leading this time that will help anyone whether they are married, single, or parenting. Kent has worked on staff with Larry Crabb for over 15 years and similiar principles will be taught that are found in Peter Scazerro’s book Emotionally Healthy Spirituality. It is only $15 and there is childcare provided (for an additional $15). I personally am going and am excited to continue to grow in how I can learn to build up the body in how I live and speak in Christ.
True Community: Living Below the Surface with Kent and Karla Denlinger
IF:GATHERING exists to equip women with Gospel-Centered resources, events, and community so they may learn more about who God is and disciple other women right where they are.
